Whimsical is fancy, advernture or just something straight weird and wonderful. When you look at the art piece, your mind should just explode. Your mind should start to take you on a journey of wonder. Whimsical means payfully quaint or fanciful, esp. in an appealing and amusing way. Acting or behaving in a capricious manner.

sorry about the long title websites
I chose these pictures because they represent to me a Whimsical journey which is a strange, wonderful or fantasy road to a place that is mind blowing.
Joel Kerbey
Both images represent a whimsical journey as they are abstract, unique and out of place with the environment, creating a fantasy affect. They are disjointed and in a way mystical, creating a wanderous and adventurous atmosphere. In the first picture, the colourful objects on the wall contrast with the white plain colours of the wall. As these objects are 3D it also creates an illusion of ‘another’ world or ‘creatures’ coming out of the wall. The second image is abstract and busy, bringing many features to your eye. The rigid edges and sharp lines create a symmetrical feeling.
Picture 2: The texture presented is as a tree or wood, and the texture of the surrounding environment is natural as it is placed in a natural environment (trees, grass etc.) The form and line of both objects is amazing;
picture 1: the colours bought out, the shapes of the 3-dimentional art as well as the rigid and straight lines of these objects.
picture 2: the shapes of the brown-tree-like objects, the tone created by the different colours of brown and green and the different lines passing each other created by the various brown obejcts.
The three principles demonstrated in both artworks are contrast, rhythm and variety. As mentioned before, the contrast and varietyof the colourful colours against the plain white, and the rhythm of these 3D colourful obejects also creates a unity within the painting.
In picture 2: The contrast of the brown against the birght vivid green which in turn really draws your attention to the main focal point of this photo.

This/these images represent a whimsical journey as they are abstract, fantasy-like and different. They create a playful adventurous atmosphere and pull you into another world.

Natalie, please check the questions again and repost your answers.
Joel, you didn't answer question 1. Please repost your answers again.
Kayla, good effort on your response. I am not sure about your image 1, but image 2 is good and quirky.
Q.1)both images can relate to a whimsical journey, its kinda like alice in wonderland.the objects are really huge so it really draws your attention.
pic.1: this pic ha variety, contrast & rythm.my opinon about this pic is that its not great or fancy enough for me to think of it as a whimsical journey type picture.
pic.2:this pic has in it variety, rythm and contrast, form, texture.this work stands out alot for people to and very easy to spot because its in an environment where there is only green.i didnt thinkthat this image includes the
theme whimsical journey because its just big blocks that have rough texture like bark or some type of stick put iun it...its more of a haysatck to me.
Q.2) changingworldsbuildingdreams.com/blog
this image represents the theme whimsical journey because its a house with no foundation so it seems a if ur flying. your on a journey flying were your heart desires. this image as my opinion represents the theme whimsical journey.
dont take away five marks.

1) I agree that they go with the theme ‘whimsical journey’ because they are both shaped weirdly and seem distorted. It's not a shape that would appear in everyday objects. They seem out of place in the images like they don't belong to the world.
Three art principles would be rhythm as both of the images have repetition like the colourful shapes in Image A and the brown lines in Image B. They also both have contrast amongst the background in Image A if they had placed it on a blue background it would not have stood out as much as it would with a lighter colour. In Image B, it stands out amongst the green background because everything is green while the whimsical object is brown. It also has unity because when placed all together it seems to belong together in one piece.
Three elements of design would be the texture of both of them Image A seems to be soft and bumpy while Image B seems rough and rigid. They both have different forms as Image A seems almost Two-Dimensional by the way all of them are just placed next to each other and not on top but Image B looks very three dimensional by the way they are placed. Another element would be space since they are placed in the middle of both images and gives the effect that they are whimsical.
2) Image: http://i36.tinypic.com/eqxqg8.jpg
I chose this image because the definition of whimsical means something peculiar, fanciful or unusual. This appears to be many sea creatures living in a city under the sea with buses and taxis which is very unordinary. The ‘journey’ bit also comes in as the sea creatures are all swimming to the city and out of the city and there are buses and taxis to demonstrate this because transport also symbolises journey.

Q1) Both images relate to the theme whimsical journey, both images show a look of fantasy and gives and 'out there' look. Both images are big and colorfull which attracts people.
3 art principles can be contrast which is shown in image a by dark colors with light colors and in image b with small objects and big objects. Rhythm is also shown by repetition in both images and patterns with same colors being seperated by other colors.i think balance can also be shown in image b by all the elements being similar in siz and doesnt make it look like its gona fall over.
3 art elements would be texture, value and line. It shows texture because in image a it shows a smooth look and a soft surface, and ruffness in image b. It shows value in image b by darker and lighter colors being put together and making the hay? look bigger.Line is showed in both images, in image b line is shown by differant lines being put together to show a 3D look. In image a by lines put together to make it look like the picture is flowing from top to bottom.
Q2) http://www.sherryarthur.com/images/whimsical%20jouney500wm.jpg
This image shows a whimsical journey cos it shows another world, like a fairytale that is just so strange and that has a life differant to this world. It looks like a place where fairies and genies live.A place where u can journey far far away.
Arón Rodrigues
Q1)Image A looks colourful and fun, there is a balance between the colours to create a calm effect whilst image B looks wierd and very different, with materials that look natural from the environment, the texture of it looks rough. I think that both of them represent the theme 'whimsical journey' because they are both distorted shapes and very different to what we see in our everyday lives, they dont really fit in but it works.
Q2) http://www.whimsical-art.com/ProdImages/FishCity.jpg
I chose this image because of how it is a created world just like ours that we live in except its different because its for fish, eg. the fish inside the taxi's and buses and how there are buildings. It sucks you in just by the little things like colour, the shapes, and the contrast between the dark background colour and the light colours in the front, it balances with each other.

1. I Think that the second image (image B) represents the theme whimsical journey because it is unusual, mind-blowing and out of this world although i had trouble seeing how the first image (image A) represents whimsical journey because although it is a great piece of art i dont feel like its out of this world or as mind blowing as image B
Image A.
Elements
I think that because the Colors are so bright and bold and it also creates intensity by how big the art is and it uses cool colors and primary colors.
I Cant really tell if the art work is little pieces put together or one big piece made to look like that. I think this creates texture making it look rough and i also think that the shape is 2-dimentional but it also has a jumping out at you affect.
Principles
I think this art gives a sense of balance because although there is a lot of blue its not over crowded and it all flows correctly and this also creates unity because its not confusing to look at and all the little colors join together to create a bigger and much more impressive art piece.
Image B
I think that this art work is a great example of form because it is a number of 3-dimensional shapes. The colors used in this are mainly warm earthy browns. Also in this art work i think that the texture seems quite rough or like spiders web.
Principles
I think this the art work has movement because all the lines or threads have been put in a position as if they are moving and as if in real life its racing around the big shapes. The big shapes and the lighter color lines on top of the darker ones also creates variety and i think because the lines are mainly all going into the same direction it creates a rhythm.

by JOel Kerbey
I agree that both of the photos represent the theme, because they fitt under the "whimsical journey" meaning category. This means that it can be unique, fantasy, something that you don’t really see in reality, it’s usually something odd, strange/peculiar and they both stand out. Something whimsical and abstract-like usually makes you ponder about what the image is for a long time, so you can let your mind to figure out what you think it is.
Picture A,
An art principle I think would be rhythm because you can see the patterned colourful figures, another would contrast because the repeated coloured objects blend in well with the curved white wall and it really makes it seem to stand out more. It looks like the objects are sort of overflowing, it looks like these strange objects are falling out of it. The shadows seem to fall upon it make it apart of contrast as well. The blue sky also seems to match with the blue objects on the wall.
Pic B –
An element of design would be the texture, the brown objects seem to look like large haystacks which makes this image stand out so you look at it straight away, The bright green makes these brown blocks be the main focus of the picture, the texture of these brown objects seem to looks hard and bristle, the greyish white lines in them contrast with the colour of the sky.

I believe this image represents whimsical journey because tree symbolises magical and its mysterious.

This is part of a whimsical journey as well because it seems abnormal, & its a bright wacky coloured image.

Question 1) I think both these pictures represent a "Whimsikle Journey" in different ways. When I think of a whimsikle jouney, I think of things like Alice in wonderland and big red roses, running through the woods, things like that, and the first picture is very coulrful and I think it balances the dramatic shape of the art work on the wall. I think the second picture represtents a whimsikle journey more than the first picture becuase as I was saying, when i think of a whimsikle jouney I think of Alice in wonderland and the woods, and in the second picture, it shows a huge version of a marsupial and it reminds me of a woodland creature that then creates a whmslial theme. This picture also involves rythem and balance in the way it is broken up into peices (whitch are different rock segments) and i get a better feeling of the theme through picture two.
Question 2)

I love this picture of the origional Alice in Wonderland. Even though there is no colour in this picture the contrast of the characters and the intricate detailing in thier costumes and facial expressions shows, to me, it represtnts a whimsikle jouney.

1)To me image one looks cool and in now times because of the way that it hanging of the wall is very good way to do it. i like the colors in the image to me it looks like water going down a hill. image two look really weird but in a cool way i guess that one good thing about both the images in image two the way the have made it is cool i do not know what it is but it look cool.

In this image it is weird that they put they put skies on the bottom i guess that is what whimsical journey is weird and and amazing.
Brian Flamenco
To me a whimsical journey is a crazy, weird, unusual, fanciful, interesting and something that flows and takes you on a new journey.
1)
Image A is a good image to represent a whimsical journey because the colorful objects are flowing out the top of the roof and down the side of the building, which is strange and makes your imagination start to work. The colors of the objects against the white wall create emphasis. The bits of white in overflowing objects contrast with the white wall surrounding it. The way the objects have been situated on the wall creates a flowing effect, which brings out the art principle rhythm.
Texture is shown through this in the way the objects stand out and are all shapes and sizes jam packed together. The color is bright and bold which makes it stand out and catch your eye as you go past. The shape and form is strange and very whimsical in the way it starts to spread over the wall.
Image B is another good example of whimsical journey because of the strange and unusualness around the idea. The silvery grey lines in this work create emphasis with the brown making the grey bits stand out. Movement/rhythm is shown through the way many of the lines are going similar directions.
Balance comes through in the way that the grey lines are spread throughout most of the brown. It also contrasts with the slight brown in the trees as well as the green color.
Texture is one of the main elements in the whimsical work. It has rough straw like edges, like hay does.
The shape is very unusual with many squares, circles, strings etc. it looks as if there is a door way and a window, so it could very well be a kind of maze that could take you on a whimsical journey.
The line work is another thing that stands out; because of the emphasis it creates. The grey lines are bold and vivid creating the lines which define the corners and edges of the shapes.

Sorry I'm late Mr Mah, I've been really sick and just been sleeping.
Whimsical means kind of strange, which both of these artworks are. The first one totally doesn't fit in with it's environment, and is really colourful. The colours make it crazy, and unrealistic. I can't tell exactly what it's supposed to be, but there's a movement in the way it's going down, sort of like it's water and travelling down the wall.
I really like the second one, beacause it reminds me of the move 'Where the Wild Things Are'. It looks sort of natural, but completely unnatural at the same time. I like that it's so big and unrealistic. The different shapes look really good, like the circle, giving some variety. The texture of the sticks that it's made of looks natural and cool.

Sorry about the long link, but I love how in this picture she is all alone, and how the wind is going through her hair which makes it even more lonesome. The dragonflies are done in a completely different and more realistic way than the rest of the picture. I love the dress, and the texture of it - sort of scaly. The background is so faded, so the girl really stands out, which makes it look like she's the only one in the world, which is creepy and weird, but still cool.
Anyhoo, sorry that I'm so late, but i couldn't do it before now,

A) This image is a good example of whimsical because is weird and wonderful. It has bright colours in it and uses different types of shapes.
Elements of Art
Form: the image has a three dimensions and volume to it,
Shape: The shapes that are used give the art piece an appearance of two-d or three- objects.
Colour: This element is the most seen one in this art piece because it gives its main appeal to it. It gives it depth and power. The bright colours give it more understand to whimsical.
